Thrace

Overview

Thrace is the vineyard and gastronomy region closest to Istanbul. A day spent among the vineyards makes a frame for team programmes that is both relaxed and prestigious; because the distance is short, single-day formats are realistic.

Why do companies choose this destination?

The main reason companies choose Thrace is being able to build a programme that feels like leaving the city, an hour and a half to two hours from Istanbul. The second is that vineyard and production facility visits are an unfamiliar experience for a team. The third is that a shared table speeds up bonding between departments.

Which locations are visited?

The stops below are planned individually or combined depending on the programme; the route is finalised according to group size and total duration.

  • Vineyards and production facilities: a vineyard tour, a production narrative and a tasting session; split into time slots according to group size.
  • Around Kırklareli and Vize: the line where the vineyards are densest; boutique property accommodation is possible.
  • Ganos Mountains: walking trails; adds a nature leg to the vineyard programme.
  • Şarköy and Mürefte coast: lunch with a sea view and a free-time stop.
  • Local producers and cheese workshops: small-scale stops that complete the tasting route.

Which teams does it suit?

Istanbul-based teams, departments planning a year-end thank-you programme and small executive groups are the most frequent choices. Groups of 15-50 are the most productive scale in this region.

How is a sample run-of-show built?

A typical single-day flow starts with an 08:30 departure from Istanbul and reaches the first vineyard around 10:30. The vineyard tour and production narrative run first, then the tasting session. Lunch is planned at the vineyard or on the coast. In the afternoon a second producer visit or a short walk is added; the return starts around 17:00.

How are transport and logistics planned?

Roughly 150-200 kilometres from Istanbul, an hour and a half to two and a half hours depending on the area. Distances between vineyards are 20-40 kilometres; vehicle allocation throughout the programme is essential. On programmes including a tasting, planning a chauffeured vehicle for the return is standard practice.

Which programme formats work here?

Single-day gastronomy and tasting programmes are the most common format. Formats with one overnight stay at boutique properties are preferred for executive groups. It is frequently used for reward and thank-you programmes.

When should it be planned?

September-October, the harvest period, is the most requested time in the region and capacity fills early. Spring, when the vines come into leaf, is the second choice. In winter, production facility visits continue indoors and the vineyard walk is shortened.

What should be watched when planning?

On programmes including a tasting, the return journey for participants is the company's responsibility; a chauffeured vehicle is therefore a standard line item in the quote. At least 8 weeks of planning is needed for the harvest period.

Note: tasting sessions involving alcohol are optional; an alternative grape juice and local produce tasting is planned for participants who do not take part.

Share your date, headcount and budget band through the quote form and a suitable route for this destination, with tiered pricing, follows within the same working day.
