The Ganos Mountains corporate nature trip is a full-day programme of guided trekking on the slopes of Mount Ganos, which drop steeply into the Sea of Marmara in the Şarköy district of Tekirdağ. The coach leaves Istanbul early in the morning; after a walk of around four hours in two stages, the group returns late in the evening. It is designed for teams of 8-35 who want a challenge on a route that combines sea and mountain views.
With a summit reaching around 900 metres and slopes covered in olive groves, vineyards and forest, Ganos is the most prominent high ground on the Thracian coast. The group meets the guide at Yeniköy or Uçmakdere and, after a warm-up and safety briefing, starts walking towards the Ganos road. At the break around Nişan Tepesi, the Sea of Marmara, Marmara Island and the southern shore come into view together.
In the second stage the route descends through the vineyards to Uçmakdere village. The stone houses bearing traces of Greek architecture and the village coffee house are the natural end point of the walk. Before the return, a short seaside break is taken at Gaziköy or Ayazma beach; on request, a wine tasting can be added in Mürefte, known for its wine-growing tradition.
Suitable for department and project teams of 8-35 who exercise regularly and want a real walk rather than a classic picnic. The effort level is moderate to high, with sloping ascents and descents; walking poles are therefore recommended for participants with knee problems, and a shorter alternative route can be planned.
The coach picks up from the main stop closest to the company, using designated central points on the European and Asian sides of Istanbul (Kadıköy, Üsküdar, Mecidiyeköy, Levent, Bakırköy, Pendik, Taksim, İncirli, Kartal, Maltepe, Kozyatağı, Göztepe, Cevizlibağ, Avcılar, Beylikdüzü and others) or in the surrounding provinces (Kocaeli, Sakarya, Tekirdağ, Edirne, Bursa, Yalova). A door-to-door service can also be organised at the company's request.
The programme is tailored to the group's fitness level. The standard route is Uçmakdere - Ganos Road - Uçmakdere. The distance ranges from 10 to 18 km and walking time is 4-6 hours. The difficulty is moderate to above moderate and suits people who walk regularly. Shorter, flatter routes can also be chosen for those on their first nature walk.
Recommended: comfortable trekking shoes with waterproof soles or ankle boots, spare socks and clothes (to leave in the vehicle), layered clothing suited to the season (a sweat-wicking T-shirt, a fleece, a windproof or rain jacket), a 25-litre backpack, at least 1.5-2 litres of water, energy-giving snacks (dried fruit, nuts, energy bars), any personal medicines, sun cream, a hat and sunglasses. Walking poles and gaiters are recommended if you have them. You may also bring a swimsuit and towel if you would like to swim in a stream or the sea.
Trekking can continue in light rain (suitable clothing is recommended). In heavy rain, storms or other adverse weather, the programme is postponed or an indoor alternative (a wine tasting, time at the village coffee house) is put in place. The organising team makes the decision on the morning of the tour.
Meals are not included in the standard package. Breakfast in nature, a light packed lunch and a dinner can be organised as additional services. A wine tasting workshop in Mürefte is also offered as an additional service.
Around 14-16 hours from coach departure to return (06:00-22:00). The active programme in the area (trekking, the village visit and breaks) takes around 8-10 hours.
Ganos means 'Sacred Light'. The mountain is also known as Tekfur Dağı and Işıklar Dağı. Tekirdağ takes its name from Tekfur Dağı.
This programme is designed for adult groups of corporate employees. The moderate route suits participants who can regularly walk for a few hours; participants aged 12 and over are accepted.
The distance, duration and elevation gain of the route are shared with participants before the programme, so that everyone can judge whether it suits them. At the company's request a shorter and flatter alternative route can be arranged, and an equivalent activity is planned for those who prefer not to take part. Participants with any doubts about their personal circumstances are advised to consult their own doctor.
