The corporate sailing experience is a half-day activity programme in which teams put to sea on sailing yachts off the coasts of Istanbul, İzmir, Bursa, Antalya or Muğla, taking on tasks alongside a skipper and crew. Participants are not just passengers; they play an active part at the helm, on the sails and on the lines. It suits companies looking for a team activity in which communication and coordination are experienced first-hand.

What is in the programme?

The programme starts at the pier with a safety briefing, the handing out of life jackets and an introduction to basic sailing terms. Depending on numbers, the team is spread across several boats; on each boat participants are assigned roles such as helm, mainsail and jib, and carry out tacking and gybing manoeuvres according to the wind direction under the skipper's guidance. If the wind allows, an optional short course can be sailed between the boats.

The sailing area varies by city: the Marmara shore and the entrance to the Bosphorus in Istanbul, the gulf in İzmir, the Mudanya and Gemlik coasts in Bursa, the waters off Konyaaltı in Antalya, and the bays of Bodrum, Göcek or Marmaris in Muğla. After the sail, the programme closes at the pier with a short debrief in which the teams share their experience.

Who Is It For?

Planned for SME and corporate teams of 10-80. It suits teams that want to work on leadership, task allocation and communication under pressure through a concrete experience, as well as motivation camps. No previous sailing knowledge is needed; however, participants who cannot swim should be notified in advance. Physical effort is moderate, involving hauling on lines, keeping balance on board and spending several hours in the sun.

Planning Notes

• The best period is April to October in the Aegean and the Mediterranean, and May to September in the Marmara.
• The programme depends on wind conditions; in very strong or insufficient wind, the skipper will change the route and duration.
• Non-slip shoes, sunscreen, a hat and a change of clothes are recommended.
• If participant numbers and sea experience are shared in advance, the number of boats and the team split are planned accordingly.
