Get in Touch

Reward and recognition trips are programmes organised to thank a team at the end of a period. The difference from an incentive trip is that participation is not tied to the result of a competition: the aim here is not to make people compete but to make the value of completed work visible. Programmes under this heading are therefore short, high-impact and sized so the whole team can join.

Why domestic and short?

The effect of a thank-you fades quickly with time. A programme held months after a quarter or a major project closes stops being a reward and becomes an ordinary event. That is why reward programmes are mostly planned domestically, as a single day or one overnight — so they can be delivered within 3-4 weeks of the close. Boat programmes on the Bosphorus, dinner at a historic waterside mansion, island routes, a sunset sailing experience and a day among vineyards all fit this scale.

What actually creates the sense of prestige?

On reward programmes the value a participant perceives does not rise in line with the amount spent. Three things are decisive: the programme being clearly distinct from a normal working day, the manager being physically present, and the thank-you being expressed in a way that is specific to the person. A two-minute speech at the close that names which piece of work, by which team, with what result, is remembered more than the rest of the programme.

What is the most common mistake?

Adding a presentation, a target announcement or a review session to a reward programme turns the thank-you into an extension of the working day and removes the effect you wanted. If the agenda for the new period needs to be shared, plan it as a separate organisation programme. On a reward day, only the thank-you is discussed.

What group sizes, and when to plan?

Programmes run from 10 people. Above 60, boat capacity and restaurant blocks become decisive, so date flexibility matters more. The year-end period (December) is when capacity under this heading fills fastest; we recommend planning at least 10-12 weeks ahead. Share your date, headcount and budget band through the quote form and a preliminary quote follows within the same working day.

Frequently asked questions

Quoting a fixed per-person figure would be misleading; headcount, date, programme length and venue type are what decide it. Quotes are presented with transport, venue, catering and operations separated, so you can compare line by line.

Both are possible. Where a team completed a period target together, everyone is expected to join; where only part of the team takes part, the selection criterion has to be transparent, otherwise the thank-you creates friction.

The effect of a thank-you fades quickly. Programmes delivered within 3-4 weeks of the period close produce the highest impact. That is why reward programmes are usually planned domestically and kept short.

December is when capacity under this heading fills fastest. For boat, restaurant and historic venue blocks we recommend planning at least 10-12 weeks ahead.

You can, but we do not recommend it. Adding a work agenda to a reward day turns the thank-you into an extension of work and removes the effect. Planning a separate organisation programme for the new period works better.
