Starting with a welcome at 09:00, the programme ends at around 13:00. What is in the programme?
Yıldız is a palace complex that served as the residence and seat of government of Sultan Abdülhamid II in the last quarter of the 19th century; rather than a single building, it consists of pavilions, apartments and workshops spread across a grove. When the sultan left his palace on the Bosphorus shore for a more secluded place to live, this hillside above Dolmabahçe became the empire's centre of decision-making.
After the guide's general briefing, the group first walks through the gardens and outer grounds, then moves on to a detailed commentary on the pavilions and historic buildings. Through structures such as the Şale Pavilion, the Malta and Çadır pavilions and the Yıldız Porcelain Factory, founded to supply the palace, the tour examines the diplomacy, security and daily life of the period. The programme closes with a photo stop and free time at 12:30.
