A half-day commemoration programme built for teams working in Istanbul who have to be back at work the same day. The route covers Dolmabahçe Palace and the period buildings around it.
The route
- Dolmabahçe Palace: where Atatürk worked and lived in Istanbul; the rooms relating to his final period are visited with a guided narrative.
- Around the palace and the Beşiktaş line: a short walk taking in the city buildings of the early Republic.
- Naval Museum (optional): added to the route where the programme time allows.
The language of the programme
The narrative is built within a commemorative frame. On this programme our guides focus on building context rather than relaying chronological facts; leaving the team a shared moment of silence is worth more than the volume of information delivered.
Planning note
On 10 November, visitor numbers at Dolmabahçe are at their highest of the year and visiting hours can change. We plan the group entry in advance and use a wireless headset system for groups above 40. The programme can be timed to coincide with 09.05; in that case the moment of silence is observed in front of the palace. The recommended minimum planning time is 4 weeks.
