Overview
The Eastern Black Sea corporate trip is a five-day culture and nature programme with 3-5 nights' accommodation, starting in Trabzon and reaching up to the highland plateaus (yaylas) of Rize. Accommodation, all meals in the programme, museum entry and transport within the region are included. It is designed for teams of 8-35 who want to experience green valleys, monasteries, highland culture and Black Sea cuisine together on a single trip.
What is in the programme?
On the first day in Trabzon the group sees the 13th-century Hagia Sophia, the Atatürk Pavilion and the city view from Boztepe; Akçaabat meatballs are served at lunch, and anchovy pilaf and black cabbage soup in the evening. On the second day the group visits Sümela Monastery, set against a cliff in the Altındere Valley in Maçka, then continues to Uzungöl in Çaykara for a walk around the lake.
On the third day the group visits the castle and tea gardens in Rize, then sees Zilkale and Palovit Waterfall along the Fırtına Valley before climbing to the Ayder plateau in Çamlıhemşin. On the fourth day there is a walk on the Gito and Pokut plateaus, on ridges that often sit above the clouds. On the final day time is set aside in the Trabzon bazaar for regional products such as candied chestnuts and Trabzon bread.

Planning Notes
- The best period for the highland plateaus is June to September; as rain can fall in the region all year round, a raincoat is essential.
- Rafting and ziplining on the Fırtına Stream and the Ayder thermal springs are charged extra.
- The roads to Pokut and Gito are travelled in smaller vehicles suited to the area; larger groups are split for transport.
- Flights and transport to Trabzon from the surrounding provinces are not included in the package.

FAQ
June to September is ideal for a highland tour (greenery and flowers). Spring and autumn also suit Sümela Monastery and the city tours. In winter Sümela Monastery may be covered in snow and the highland plateaus are closed. The high-altitude plateaus should be visited in the summer season.
The monastery sits on a rock face about 300 metres above the valley floor. From the car park there is a walk of around 20-25 minutes on a sloping path. Comfortable walking shoes are recommended. It is not overly strenuous.
The standard programme is 4 days and 3 nights or 5 days and 4 nights. On request, an intensive 3-day, 2-night programme is also possible (Trabzon + Uzungöl + Sümela).
Yes. There are boutique hotels and guesthouses around Uzungöl. Depending on your preference, the group can stay in Uzungöl or in central Trabzon. Staying in Uzungöl offers a closer-to-nature experience.
We offer airport transfers from the provinces around these cities. From provinces in the Black Sea area (Samsun, Ordu, Giresun, Amasya, Tokat, Gümüşhane, Erzurum, Bayburt) you can travel directly by road and join the tour in Trabzon.
Many regional dishes will be tasted, such as mıhlama / kuymak (cornmeal and cheese), anchovy pilaf, black cabbage soup, Akçaabat meatballs, Laz böreği, Trabzon bread, Rize tea, clotted cream with honey, candied chestnuts, trout, cornbread, pickled beans and Hamsiköy rice pudding.
Yes. The tour is planned entirely as a private programme for companies, with hotels, vehicles and guides arranged according to the group size.
The Black Sea region sees rain in every season. In light rain the tours continue (an umbrella and raincoat are recommended). In heavy rain or where there is a risk of landslides, the programme is revised or moved to indoor venues (museums, tea gardens).
