The Istanbul Architecture corporate trip is a programme that examines the city's Byzantine, classical Ottoman, Westernisation-era and contemporary buildings with an architect or art historian as guide, and can run as a half day, a full day or over two to three days. The buildings are considered not only historically but also in terms of structure, materials and their place in the city. It is designed for small executive teams and design-focused companies.
What is in the programme?
The route is built around the periods chosen. The Byzantine layer includes Hagia Sophia, the Little Hagia Sophia Mosque, the Basilica Cistern, the Aqueduct of Valens and Kariye (Chora), known for its mosaics. The classical Ottoman section examines Mimar Sinan's Şehzade and Süleymaniye mosques, the Rüstem Paşa Mosque with its İznik tiles and the Kılıç Ali Paşa Mosque in Tophane.
The 19th-century section covers the Balyan family's Dolmabahçe Palace and Ortaköy Mosque, along with the Sirkeci and Haydarpaşa stations. In the contemporary section, adaptive reuse and urban regeneration are discussed through the new Istanbul Modern building designed by Renzo Piano, SALT Galata in the former Ottoman Bank building, Bomontiada – a factory turned cultural venue – and the Levent-Maslak business districts.

Yes, the tour content is prepared so that it is clear to non-architects as well. The guides simplify technical details and explain them within the social and cultural context of the period. However, the main aim is to offer in-depth knowledge for architecture enthusiasts and professionals.
Yes, the tour is fully customisable. Depending on your company's interests, the route can be designed around Byzantium only, Mimar Sinan only, modern architecture only or a mix of all of them. It can also focus on a particular area (such as the Historic Peninsula, the Bosphorus shoreline or Levent-Maslak).
Touring the whole of Topkapı Palace (including the Harem) takes 3-4 hours, and Dolmabahçe Palace (Selamlık + Harem) 2-2.5 hours. For this reason, in busy programmes we recommend including only one of these palaces in a single day.
Buildings that can be entered: Istanbul Modern, SALT Galata, Bomontiada, Zorlu Center PSM (food and drink areas, performance hall) and Arter. Buildings seen from outside: Sapphire, the Levent/Maslak office towers, the Şakirin Mosque (as a mosque, it can be entered outside prayer times) and the Atatürk Cultural Centre (AKM).
When the Historic Peninsula and Beyoğlu are toured on foot, the average walk is 5-8 km (comfortable shoes are recommended). On tours that visit selected points with vehicle transfers, walking is shorter (2-3 km). It is arranged according to the company's preference.
Yes, the tour is planned entirely as a private programme for companies. The number of guides and transfer vehicles is set according to group size. It can run with a minimum of 5 people.
On Mondays, palaces such as Dolmabahçe, Beylerbeyi, Yıldız and Küçüksu are closed. On those days we steer the programme towards Byzantium, modern architecture, museums (Hagia Sophia, Chora and the Basilica Cistern are open), contemporary buildings and walking routes only. Topkapı Palace is closed on Tuesdays.
