Overview
The Kars corporate trip is a 2-day, 1-night programme that tours the Ani archaeological site, the historic buildings of the city centre, Lake Çıldır and Sarıkamış with a guide in Kars, in north-eastern Türkiye. Teams arriving by air are met at Kars Harakani Airport, and those arriving by road in the city centre. It is designed for teams of 8-35 who want to experience the traces of different civilisations together with the region's harsh climate.
What is in the programme?
Day one starts with a Kars breakfast of kaşar and gruyère cheese, honey and clotted cream. The group then travels to the Ani archaeological site on the edge of the Arpaçay valley; in the city, added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2016, the group tours the Cathedral, the Ebul Manuçehr Mosque, the Church of Tigran Honents, the walls and the Lion Gate. Back in the city centre, lunch features regional flavours such as goose and keledoş soup.
In the afternoon the group takes in the view of the city from Kars Castle, then walks through a city centre full of the Kümbet Mosque – converted from the 10th-century Church of the Holy Apostles – the 16th-century Stone Bridge and Baltic-style buildings built during the Russian administration of 1878-1918. On day two the group heads to Lake Çıldır on the Ardahan border; in winter there are horse-drawn sleigh rides on the frozen lake, in summer walks and birdwatching. On the way back there is an optional stop at Sarıkamış, known for its Scots pine forests and ski resort.

Planning Notes
- January-February is recommended for sleigh rides, and June-September for green landscapes and comfortable walking; temperatures drop very low in the winter months.
- Food and drink, site and museum entries, sleigh ride and cable car fees are not included in the package.
- Shade and resting areas are limited at Ani; a hat in summer and layered clothing in winter are essential.
- Flights and connections to the airport from surrounding provinces are additional services.

As Kars is a remote destination and the programme covers many sites such as the Ani Ruins, Kars Castle, Lake Çıldır and Sarıkamış, a 2-day programme with at least one overnight stay is recommended. Doing it as a day trip can be very tiring.
We offer airport connection services from the provinces around Istanbul, Ankara and İzmir. From provinces around Kars (such as Erzurum, Ardahan, Artvin, Ağrı and Iğdır), you can join the tour directly by road in Kars city centre.
Flights are not included in the standard package, but ticketing can be arranged as an additional service. On request, a turnkey package covering all transport can be offered.
Kars Harakani Airport (KSY) is used. There are direct flights from Istanbul and Ankara. From İzmir, flights usually involve a connection.
The Museum Card is valid at the Ani Ruins. Without a Museum Card, an entry fee is payable. A group discount or guided entry can be arranged.
In the summer months (June-September) Kars is cool and green with its upland climate, ideal for touring the Ani Ruins. In the winter months (December-March), horse-drawn sleigh rides on Lake Çıldır and skiing at Sarıkamış are possible. The season should be chosen according to the experience you want.
