The GAP corporate culture trip is a history and gastronomy programme covering five ancient cities of Southeastern Anatolia, planned either as a 5-day standard or a 7-day comprehensive itinerary. Four to six nights of accommodation, all meals in the programme, museum entry and intercity transport are included. It is designed for executive teams and for groups of 8-35 looking for an extended cultural route.
The standard programme opens in Şanlıurfa with Balıklıgöl, the Rızvaniye Mosque, Urfa Castle and the Archaeology Museum. On day two, Göbeklitepe is followed by the drive to Adıyaman and sunset on Mount Nemrut, where giant statues stand on the tumulus of the Commagene king Antiochus I. Day three covers Arsameia, the Roman-era Cendere Bridge, the Karakuş Tumulus and Old Kâhta Castle. Day four is spent in Gaziantep, with the Zeugma Mosaic Museum, the castle, the Coppersmiths' Bazaar and the historic caravanserais.
In the seven-day programme the group continues from Gaziantep to Mardin, seeing the Great Mosque, the Zinciriye and Kasımiye madrasas and the stone townscape overlooking the Mesopotamian plain. After the Syriac Deyrulzafaran Monastery and Midyat, the route concludes in Diyarbakır with the city walls, the Hevsel Gardens, the Great Mosque and the Four-Legged Minaret.
Suitable for companies of 8-35 planning a senior executive programme, an extended incentive trip or a team trip focused on culture and gastronomy. The effort level is moderate; daily drives are long, and the summit of Nemrut is reached on foot by a sloping path from the car park.
Because of the hot climate of Southeastern Anatolia, the best period is from October to April. In the summer months (May-September) temperatures can reach 40°C; in that case the tour programme is shifted to early mornings and evenings. For sunrise or sunset on Mount Nemrut, the summer months are more suitable (it is not cold).
Yes, and the Museum Card is valid at Göbeklitepe. About 1-1.5 hours are allowed for the visit. Entry is free with the Museum Card, and the entry fee is included in the tour.
Vehicles drive up close to the summit; from the car park there is a walk of about 15-20 minutes (500-600 metres) along a gently sloping path to the east terrace. It is not demanding; comfortable shoes are recommended, and be sure to bring warm clothing (a windproof jacket or coat), as the summit is cold and windy.
A minimum of 5 days is recommended (Şanlıurfa, Adıyaman/Nemrut, Gaziantep). Seven days are needed to include Mardin and Diyarbakır. If your company has time constraints, an intensive 4-day programme is also possible (Şanlıurfa + Göbeklitepe + Nemrut + Gaziantep).
Gaziantep: baklava, lahmacun, kebabs (aubergine, liver), katırcı, pistachios, beyran soup, yuvarlama and menengiç coffee; Şanlıurfa: çiğ köfte, Sıra Gecesi dishes, isot and aubergine kebab; Adıyaman: Adıyaman çiğ köfte and iskender kebab; Mardin: telli kurabiye, stuffed ribs and içli köfte; Diyarbakır: liver kebab, watermelon, kadayıf dolması and meftune.
