A retreat is a programme with no agenda, where the team steps away from work physically and mentally. The "no agenda" part of that definition is what separates a retreat from every other type of corporate programme: no presentations, no target announcements, no review sessions. It is built for recovery after an intense project period, a major launch or a demanding quarter.

When a retreat, when a motivation camp?

The two are often confused but they solve different problems. A team motivation camp is for building something: trust, communication, a shared objective. A retreat is for putting something down: pace, screens, constant availability. If the team does not know each other, a camp is the right instrument; if the team knows each other well but is depleted, a retreat is.

What happens on a retreat?

Scope covers breathwork and movement sessions, yoga and meditation, walks in nature, thermal and spa access, guidance on sleep and balanced nutrition, and digital detox blocks. Sessions are designed independently of participant level; no activity requires prior experience. Accommodation and dining are part of the programme — light, regular meals directly shape how the programme feels.

How does the team actually disconnect?

The most common reason retreats fail is participants staying tied to work by phone all day. What prevents this is not a rule but the company's own stance: management clearly announcing that the team will not be contacted for the duration, and a single contact person nominated for emergencies. Without that, the programme becomes a working day with a nice view.

How many people, how many days, and when?

The ideal group size is 12-40; above that the effect of the sessions drops quickly. Programmes are usually planned as two days with one overnight stay. Midweek, lower-demand days bring both capacity and price advantages. Frequently asked questions

Technically possible, but not recommended. Agenda density turns a retreat into an extension of work and removes the recovery effect you are after. If there is an agenda to share, it should be planned as a separate organisation programme.

No. Yoga, breathwork and meditation sessions are designed independently of participant level; no activity requires prior experience. Sessions are adapted for participants with physical limitations.

The ideal range is 12-40. Above that the effect of the sessions drops quickly; in that case the team is split in two and planned on consecutive dates.

Two days with one overnight stay is the most common format. Single-day formats lose most of their effect to travel time. Three-day programmes are only justified after a long and draining period.

Management needs to announce clearly that the team will not be contacted for the duration, and a single contact person should be nominated for emergencies. Without that, the programme becomes a working day with a nice view.

Midweek, lower-demand days bring both capacity and price advantages. Holding the retreat in work time also sends the message that the company takes it seriously.
